A narrow, cliff-side route guides you to the placid surroundings of Merchant Valley, where, in winter, snowmobile tracks crisscross the open meadow and sparse white aspens meet lush ponderosas along the gently rolling hills. But Merchant Valley is just as gorgeous during the summer and maybe even more spectacular in the fall. A short, and breathtaking 16 miles due east of Beaver, take Scenic Byway U-153 along winding turns and vistas to the junction of Merchant Creek and Three Creeks. With its abundant fishing streams as well as lake fishing at Merchant Valley Dam, it’s an angler’s paradise boasting some of the best fly fishing in the region. The dam is easily accessible most of the year along the main road. The surrounding hillsides are popular for sledding and tubing during the winter months. Any time is a good time in Merchant Valley.
